The importance of networking

NZ loss to scammers

We have all heard of the Nigerian scams where people email to ask for your help to launder/clear their funds in return for millions, there are the scams that tell you that your bank wants you to log in to a particular website and verify your password or PIN, then there are the scams where a real person calls you and tells you that they think that your computer has a virus so please go to their website to protect yourself and in doing so, you unwittingly allow them to hack your computer.

Cyber Security

This week is Cyber Security Awareness Week (27-31 May 2013) courtesy of NetSafe. It always helps when there is more than one voice in the cyber wilderness trying to convince people that cyber threats are very real and have a real cost associated with them. Cyber criminals

I am not exaggerating when I say that cyber criminals are lurking out there and actively hunting out their next victims, It’s hard to tell the good guys from the bad guys in the nameless (and I don’t consider Bob2568 to be a proper name), faceless (an avatar is not a face) world of cyber-space. Hackers Attack Yahoo!

The recent attack on Yahoo! highlights a fact that Binary Limited has been trying to get all business owners to be aware of – all businesses, no matter how big or small, are vulnerable to hackers. If hackers attack Yahoo! they most can certainly attack your business. The headline “Hackers Attack Yahoo!” caused brand and perceived damage that easily equals any “real” damage.

20 years of Internet

The old saying is still true – the more things change, the more they stay the same. With 20 years of internet, technology has definitely changed, the end results are the same. Whereas in times past, conmen would spin you a sad tale to get you to write a cheque (yes a cheque, remember those?!) or hand over your hard earned cash.
